It’s easy to use an oral syringe. Remove the lid of the medicine or substance and insert a bottle adapter if needed. Then, insert the tip of the oral syringe into the adapter, turn the bottle upside down and slowly pull the plunger back. Oral syringes have clear measurement markings on the outside, so you’ll be able to fill the syringe to the required dosage. Gently remove the tip of the syringe from the medication bottle.
The next step is to administer the medication to the patient. Put the tip of the syringe inside the person’s mouth and gently push the plunger to gradually release the contents into the side of the mouth. Always take time to allow the person to swallow the medicine before pressing the plunger any further.
When all the medication has been dispensed, the oral syringe can be taken apart and cleaned with warm, soapy water.
